Wouldn't it be good for browsing this list to organize alphabetically? -> Yes I agree.
Also, why not have a DSS topic? There is a whole compendium on DSS started on the wiki. So, for example, just add a link to the main page accessing DSS descriptions. -> I am not sure how you would like to organize that. Just proceed - that I can follow your suggestion
Last, databases are not, properly speaking, tools. They are the product of a tool (e.g., a DBMS). I suggest we replace "database" with database management system. Examples would include things like Microsoft Access, SQL Server, etc.
