Problem(s) to be addressed
Provide a short description of the issues / problems that you would like to work on (could be picked from the Wiki issue list, could emerge from the online discussion, or your research interest)
- The wiki is there, but how widely used is? Are people able to use it to their own needs?
Objectives / aims to be addressed by the group
Give a short description of the aim of the activities proposed below, so that the success of the measures can be evaluated according to these objectives (e.g. to increase the number of DSS descriptions available on the SMW, to improve the number of members actively involved in the CoP,…..)
- Getting people to use the wiki! build the community (not just users of the system but people taking part in its further development and maintenance)
What maturity level we should achieve so that it may be sustainable (i.e. people find benefits and willing to collaborate)? Are we there yet?
Measures to be taken What? How? With Whom? Duration?
List the measures that you are going to work on during the scheduled next year, describe what you are proposing to do, how you want to do that, whom you would like to involve and what time is needed to finish the task (e.g. develop a screen design for the CoP platform with the members of the workgroup “Technical coordination of the platform” and a private company until end of August,….)
Bring the wiki to the level it can be marketed
Provide help for users in querying
- Produce webinars and help videos --> funding for dissemination and training?
Improve the user interface to make querying easier
- Look for extensions
- Solve pending issues related with building up complex queries
Import other existing DSS descriptions to the wiki
- Make sure that DSS descriptions are all in the new semantic wiki forms
- Conduct literature review
- Contact directly with developers, particularly outside Europe (Canada, Chile, USA)...
Raise awareness of the wiki, once it’s ready, to really establish the community
Advertising, Communication, Marketing
- Motivate/supervise MSc, PhD students doing wiki maintenance work
- Build up a “campaign”: Established benefits for the potential community members; “what do I get out of it?”; "which problems can be solved easily with the wiki?".
Make use of wiki content for research
- Plan a new article making use of wiki content
Benefit / Added Value to be achieved
Established community, acquainting the benefits expected for the users
Next step to be taken
Give an example of the next step to be taken, in order to make the measures more operational (e.g. skype meeting to be scheduled by …, e-mail announcement made by ….
- Find a way to extend the core group of current contributors to distribute the tasks above
- Find funding for the community (level of maturity)? active lobbying in european associations (EURO, EFI, CEPI, Forest-based technological platform)? > ambassadors?
- Announce the establishment of the community in newsletters; kind of press release?
