Acronym: SimForTree

Brief overview

SimForTree is a decision support tool for sustainable forest management based on ecophysiological analysis and simulation of the variability in tree development.

Scope of the system

  • tool encourages decision maker to discover new problems or opportunities by exposing to new information or results
  • tool helps decision makers in recognizing upcoming problems for which solutions have been developed previously
  • tool allows decision maker to actively create new knowledge when faced with a new problem and to develop novel solutions

  • SimForTree is a research project financed by the Flemish IWT (Institute for the Promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders) with participants from the universities of Antwerpen (Universiteit Antwerpen), Gent (Universiteit Gent) and Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven).
