Involves a FORSYS case study Yes

The experience of Decision Support Tool implementation in the UK forest industry has been slow and patchy to start with, but then more enthusiastic after a period (years) of consideration.

We are interested in exploring whether the involvement of stakeholders throughout the development and implementation phase reduces the time taken for a DSS system to be established and used by the industry, and why. The STSM opportunity is for a review of the participatory technology development (PTD) literature in order to test this hypothesis. In particular we are interested in whether the PTD approach can improve the implementation phase for complex methods and approaches and tools.

The STSM will be based at Forest Research, Northern Research Station (Roslin) near Edinburgh, Scotland. The work could form the basis of a review manuscript for a peer review journal, with support from Anna Lawrence and Duncan Ray.
