MGC Larch
General System description
System name: Make Good Choice for Larch
Acronym: MGC_Larch
Brief overview
MGC_Larch is a user-friendly software package that aims to help managers to formulate, evaluate and compare different silvicultural scenarios for pure and even-aged larch plantations in Wallonia (Southern Belgium).
Contents
Scope of the system
MKG_Larch software looks for helping forest managers in the selection of a silvicultural treatment that fits the best to the objectives assigned to larch plantations. The system is valid for pure and even-aged larch (European larch (Larix decidua Mill.), Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi (Lamb.) Carr.) and hybrid larch (Larix eurolepis Henry)) stands growing in lowland areas where site conditions are similar to those in Southern Belgium. Financial, technico-economic and ecological indicators are calculated in order to characterize wood production both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Specific issues
Silvicultural treatments choice, larch timber yield.
System
Usage
The system aims to be used both for research purposes and for practical planning.
