Forsys Working Group 2 - STSM to complete information for a prototype MBMS
Working Group 2 is studying models and methods used for developing decision support systems in forest management. We have started to develop a spreadsheet/database of models and methods based on previous DSS development in Europe (and elsewhere) that is providing evidence of how appropriate each method is, what are the benefits and drawbacks of the approach, what constraints limit the use of the approach. Several STSMs have identified new approaches that could address issues such as the complexity related to forest management, and also uncertainty and vulnerability.
WG2 is hoping to complete a first version of this spreadsheet database by summer 2012. We wish to host an STSM to complete the review work and pull the result together in the new spread sheet format. The spreadsheet will be used with the properties of the semantic wiki to provide a prototype Methods Based Management System (MBMS) which is one of the main deliverables of the Cost Action in WG2.
The work could also contribute to a research paper for the Cost Action Conference in Slovakia and/or a Case Study to be included as an output of the Cost Action.
